FAQs for Renters

  • chevron_rightAre renters allowed pets at the Inland House?
Renters may not have pets on the property.

If a renter requires a service animal, the owner of the unit must be informed prior to arrival. According to the ADA, a person with a disability who has an ADA service dog cannot be asked to remove it from the premises unless: (1) the dog is out of control and the handler does not take effective action to control it or (2) the dog is not housebroken. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.
  • chevron_rightAre there rules regarding parking?
Currently cars and passenger trucks are not required to be tagged to park at the Inland House. Trailers, commercial vehicles, recreational vehicles, ATVs, snow mobiles, etc, may not be parked overnight. Any vehicle left overnight that is not a car or passenger truck used for general transportation is subject to being towed. No storage containers may be placed in the parking lot.

In the winter please note the following parking guidelines:
    • All overnight vehicles should be parked in the south parking lot along the building.
    • Absolutely no overnight vehicles should be parked in the middle area of the parking lot when snow is expected.
    • By 11 am all vehicles should be moved to the South end of the South parking lot so any remaining snow may be moved to the designated areas.
    • The snow disposal area is outlined on the attached diagram and should not be blocked for any reason.
    • The dumpster should also not be blocked in by parked vehicles for any reason.
    • If parking becomes limited please park as close to the designated overnight parking area without blocking other vehicles, lot entries, etc.
    • Owners must present these documents to any renters staying during the winter months.
    • It is important we always follow these guidelines to make the plowing process as smooth as possible.
  • chevron_rightCan renters use the Bike Room?
The Bike Room (Unit 21) is for owner use only. Renters may not store their bikes in the room.
  • chevron_rightCan renters use the dock associated with their unit?
Renters may use the dock associated with their unit if explicitly allowed by the owner. There is a convenient public boat ramp (Little Traverse Township Boat Launch) less than a mile north of the Inland House. Parking is limited and there is no overnight parking at the boat launch. Trailers may not be parked in the parking lot of the Inland House.
  • chevron_rightCan renters use the washer and dryer?
Yes, renters are welcome to use the washer and dryer between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm. The machines use an app for payment, and an account can be set up easily.
  • chevron_rightIs there accessible parking at the Inland House?
A dedicated accessible parking space is available in the south parking lot in the corner where the 2 buildings meet, and closest to the entry door. Additionally, there are two van accessible parking spaces in front of the Bike Room doors in the south parking lot. These spaces are not dedicated to van accessible parking.

  • chevron_rightWhere are the dumpster and recycling carts?
The dumpster is located in the southeast (Petoskey side) area of the parking lot. Please ensure that large items are broken down and that the dumpster lids are able to close. You may need to use the lids toward the back of the dumpster if the front is too full to close the lid.

Please do not use the pet waste station for household trash.

Recycling is available beside the dumpster. There are two carts for mixed containers and two carts for paper, bags, and boxes. Please only place allowable items in the carts so we are able to continue offering this service.
